Do You Hate To Cook?
Me too. It was not always this way. I loved to cook. My grandma had rubbed off on me big time. Cooking casseroles almost every night and I would have requests for my lasagna and chicken and dumplings. Homemade cookies, pies, cakes and other assortments of sweet yumminess was my speciality.
Am I making your mouth water thinking about it? Brings back amazing memories growing up.
What Happened, Right?!
We are getting sick and becoming more educated. Our food isn’t what it used to be either. Our food is getting doused in chemicals, everything is drenched in sugar, and our food has to be dyed in bright colors to look appealing. After all, the brighter red or blue, the better, right? It makes us happy and makes us feel good drinking that red, sugary drink!
Oh my goodness, what about all the convenience and the dollar menu we have. We don’t have to cook anymore and in fact, we don’t even have to get our of our car. Go through the drive-through on the way home and just like that, dinner is served.
Why Do We Know It’s Bad But Eat It Anyways?
You, me, everyone, is becoming more educated on healthy ways of living more and more everyday. Yet, why are people choosing to ignore it and continue living life like this? Want to know what I believe? Because it’s not making you/them sick TODAY. It is in terms of headaches, constipation, fatigue, acid reflux, pot belly, acne, depression weight gain… However, we blow these off as just life and cover the symptoms up with medicine. We are not thinking about the root cause that drives these symptoms.
I believe you are reading this because you are trying to change, but are overwhelmed with all the mixed information out there. I was there. It’s not your fault. There are so many diet fads out there trying to make money over really truly caring about our health. I will be completely honest, I have been learning for two years now and it’s still difficult with all the temptations, but I want to tell you, it doesn’t have to be complicated. Hopefully you aren’t overthinking it, like me!
Now What? I Still Hate To Cook!
What is for dinner? I don’t know. What do you want? Nothing sounds good. Sound familiar? Then it’s grab something convenient because you easily give up and the cycle continues. Ready for change?
It’s not going to be this big ah-ha that you think it is. 80% of how we look and feel is due to the food we eat. We know what is healthy, so guess what? We have to plain and simple eat what is healthy for us. Start with grilling or frying up some organic chicken in olive oil on the stove with your favorite spices. Warm up your favorite veggies for a side dish and no, you can’t drench them in butter. My go to is a pre-packaged salad mix from the local grocery store. They have a good variety of different styles to mix it up.
Don’t want grilled chicken and salad every night? How about brown rice pasta with some ground turkey and homemade tomato sauce (or look for one at the store that doesn’t have a ton of added sugar). One of our family favorites that is super easy and simple to make is a burrito bowl. It is Vegan, clean, and a healthy, delicious, flavorful way of doing taco night. Want the recipe?
